Welcome to my page Justitia and thank you for visiting. This
page offers an overview of the research I do, what inspired and motivated it, and
the books that are in progress. It also exhibits photos of objects relevant to
my research interest. My work focuses on the reforms to crown court trial
proceedings, the politics that shape them, their impact on the administration
of criminal justice and on the English and Welsh trial judiciary, including a historical perspective. It is planned to publish two books. One is aimed at
legal professionals, academics, students and policy makers. The second book is
intended to reach a broader audience, including people who may otherwise find
it difficult to read my work. On this page, I deliberately avoid the usage of
academic and legal jargon in order to make it accessible for everyone.
The page is divided into five parts. In the first I talk
about the background to my research and the reasons for choosing those
particular topics. In the second and third part I introduce the books I am working on.
These parts will be regularly updated, feeding back on the stages of work I am
at. In the fourth part I talk about places that have inspired and motivated my
research, including the Judges Lodging in Presteigne (http://www.judgeslodging.org.uk/) and Lewes Crown Court (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewes_Crown_Court).
In the final part I exhibit photos of judicial images & figures some of
which are part of my collection.
